Description

The “little brother” of the previous specimen (#4213). From the same mine, very similar in formation and paragenesis and therefore the description will hardly differ from it. This very fine Galena Chalcopyrite specimen has exceptional aesthetics and is far better in person than the pictures show. Numerous somewhat distorted, brassy yellow, slightly tarnished Chalcopyrite crystals and a twinned Chalcopyrite cluster, lightly dusted by tiny, lead-grey, matt-metallic Galena crystals. They are perched on typical beige-colored, foliated and beautifully lustrous Siderite. As far as I can tell with the unaided eye the specimen is pristine. The Georg Mine has been closed for almost 60 years and turned into a tourist attraction, and top specimens were already in demand back then, hardly any specimens of this quality are on the market anymore.
