Description

We are looking at a quite exceptional and classic Cassiterite specimens from the famous Sauberg Mine near Ehrenfriedersdorf in Saxony‘s Ore Mountains. The mine worked a greisen vein-type tin-tungsten deposit until 1990 The specimen shows Cassiterite crystals with characteristic Visiergraupen twinning (a term German miners used for twinned cassiterite crystals) that reach up to 2.5 cm in diameter. This specimen might not be entirely perfect, but it is still an incredible specimen that captivates due to the size of the crystals, luster and balance.
