Description

This is a classic, old-time, and striking combination specimen of lustrous, steel-gray-red Pyrargyrite crystals on Calcite from historic Březové Hory (Birkenberg in German), a district of Příbram in Czech Republic. The blocky, sharp-edged, mirror-bright crystals reach 0.6 cm and are loosely intergrown into a beautiful cluster. The matrix consists of tower-shaped, intergrown, transparent Calcite rhombs, some flattened and some with developed prism surfaces. This old and classic specimen is accentuated by globular but well crystallized, brassy to tombak-colored metallic Marcasite. It is a very representative specimen of the species and its historic locality.
