Description

This striking and magnificent specimen of the desired silver sulfosalt Proustite comes from the Moroccan Imiter Mine in the Drâa-Tafilalet region. In modern times, the Imiter Mine in Morocco has produced some of the classic silver sulfosalt types normally found only in historic European and American collections, as well as new and exciting species. This beautiful, very large miniature sized Proustite consists of wonderfully isolated single crystals richly scattered over the mounded matrix. When illuminated, they display the highly sought-after rich blood-red color and magnificent, adamantine luster. Good Proustite specimens like this one have long been considered the "holy grail" of mineral collecting. A fantastic Proustite in every respect, with countless perfect and multifaceted crystals up to 0.6 cm in size. A superb item of lustrous, gem-like, ruby-red Proustite crystals covers all sides of this striking and excellent specimen from recent discoveries at the Imiter Mine in Morocco. A beautiful representation of the species and locality of this sought-after silver sulfosalt. Rare in such a rich specimen from this locality.
