Description

This is an outstanding specimen with relatively large, freestanding crystals of Graphite up to 0.8 cm, including a particularly robust, beautiful, tabular crystal that is simply exquisite. Even for Graphite, it is thick and robust. The contrast with the beige Calcite is remarkable. I consider this an excellent example of the find. The Namib II Mine is small quarry just south of Wlotzkasbaken, approximately 2.3 km east of the coastal road between Hentiesbaai and Swakopmund, Namibia. Not to be confused with the Namib lead-zinc mine east of Swakopmund in the Rossing area locality . This small site produced a few number of in the late 1900s and never since.
