Description

A large and truly exceptional crystal of the rare earth mineral Gadolinite-(Y) from the European TYPE LOCALITY for such now-rare specimens. It is a very well-formed crystal of this yttrium-iron-beryllium silicate with sharp edges and well-developed faces. It is dark brown-black in color and features resinous luster. The backside is almost skeletal due to the depressed and parallel crystal growth and the display face is showing a slight hopper growth. Despite not perfect, this is a truly remarkable crystal of its kind from this magnificent locality! The specimen comes with a fine old label.
