Description

A truly outstanding specimen of kidney-ore-shaped spherical Hollandite aggregates of anthracite colour from the relatively unknown Silberbach mine near Ilfeld. The Hollandite spheres are measuring 0,6 cm in diameter. The piece features excellent aesthetics and is equally beautiful from both sides. The Silberbach mine was located near Ilfeld near Nordhausen in the Harz Mountains and was part of the manganese mining industry in the southern Harz region. Manganese ore was mined there in the 18th and 19th centuries. The mine is no longer in operation and is considered an extinct site. The specimen comes with a fine original label.
