Description

This is a great specimen with superbly defined, deep olive-brown crystals of Baryte from the well known, classic German locality of Zobes near Plauen in Vogtland, Saxony, an area containing about 11 known mines. This ex-matrix Baryte is strikingly different, being composed of intergrown highly flattened rhombic crystals with a glassy luster and super colour-zoning. They are super sharp, with great luster and no significant imperfection worth to report. This is highly aesthetic and rare material, which is hard to come by nowadays due to the fact that the mines are abandoned since decades.
