Description

The pink Apophyllite crystals are undoubtedly among the most sought-after mineral specimens produced by the venerable Samson mine near St. Andreasberg in the Harz Mountains, which was operated from 1521 to 1910. This material is old-time and classic and not comparable with the relatively new Mexican finds, as it is much rarer. In this case, we see numerous distinctly light pink crystals up to 1.2 cm in size, abundantly set on a drusy matrix. Typically, we find silvery, glittering Safflorite in the vugs. This is definitely classic material, dating back over a century. It´s remarkable that it survived two world wars in this quality.
