Description

The Kalenberg opencast mine near Mechernich is one of North Rhine-Westphalia´s classic lead deposits, although good specimens have rarely been found over the years. In this case, we see a truly outstanding Cerussite specimen with snow-white, tabular, epitaxially intergrown crystals up to 2.6 cm long, which would be considered a top specimen even for Tsumeb. The crystals have an adamantine luster and a hint of a snowflake shape. This piece, outstanding on both sides, has a high aesthetic impact and comes from the old Dünnwald collection in Herne. Since the mine was permanently closed in 1957, such magnificent specimens are practically no longer on the market. A KILLER PIECE ALL THE WAY
