Description

Here is another spectacular specimen from the San Bartolo Mine in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí. However, compared to the previous one, this one is completely different type. Two delicately sherry-colored Danburite crystals with the typical elongated, chisel-shaped habit are coated in patches with small, milky white Quartz crystals and light purple Amethyst crystals. The Danburite crystals, the larger one of the two measures 10 cm, have interestingly textured prism faces; they are striated, and show a vitreous luster. Many of the lustrous Amethyst crystals, which can reach one centimeter in length are doubly terminated. The specimen presents itself with a perfect display side with just a little contact on the back, which in my opinion doesn´t play a crucial role. This is another impressive and quite rare exceptional specimen from a relatively small find from the mid-2000s in the San Bartolo Mine in Charcas, Mexico.
