Description

Here is yet another Amethyst specimen from a lesser-known locality: Wave Hill station, a cattle transfer station in the Australian outback of the Northern Territory. The present specimen has Amethyst crystals with a deep dark violet coloration with slightly lighter crystal approaches. The specimen has a very good vitreous luster and a very nice overall aesthetic. Some of the crystals faces show an interesting texture of pockmarks. It is some kind of pitting on the terminations, possibly from natural etching? The barely visible imperfections here and there do not spoil the overall aesthetic impression in any way. A colorful top specimen from a location that is not necessarily a household name among collectors.
