Description

A specimen of Blister Copper, the spherical form of Chalcopyrite, which is well known from numerous mines in Cornwall, the most southwesterly county of the UK, It’s mineral wealth has been known for century, and the region boasts 522 valid minerals, and on top of that, is type locality for valid mineral species. Many collectors, not just the Cornish have a more or less good piece in their collection. Here, however, we have a very outstanding example with wonderful three-dimensionality, clusters of botryoidal Chalcopyrite with an excellent brassy-yellow color, metallic luster, and just the perfect amount of patina. This makes this piece not only a visual classic, but also an aesthetic top specimen. Over the years I have seen numerous Blister Coppers, but very rarely one of this outstanding quality
