Description

English Phosgenites are way more rare and desired than their Sardinian or Moroccan "cousins" and here we have a superb and rare example of this lead chlorocarbonate from Bage Mine of Cromford near Matlock, Derbyshire. Here we have a slightly altered and tarnished Galena matrix with a large crystal, up to 3,5 cm, nicely perched atop. It is accompanied by a smaller "cousin", has good luster and great transparency. This is definitely a superb and excellent balanced specimen if we consider what it is and where it comes from. Only a small amount of Phosgenite specimens come on to the market from this very old and classic Derbyshire location,- and this is a great one.
