Description
Cauliflower-shaped clusters of quince yellow Mimetite crystals are associated with glassy translucent Calcite crystals. When I took a closer look at the specimen under the microscope, just as I was uploading the photos for the auction, I discovered that the brownish-black coating on some of the Mimetite clusters are fine black metallic needles. This could be Plattnerite, a Lead oxide associated with Mimetite, and reported by Peter Megaw from the 4th level of the San Antonio Mine (MinRec 2018, Jan-Feb p125).
