Description

Famous for its fluorescent minerals, this classic combination from Franklin, New Jersey does not disappoint. Here we have grainy and indistinct crystallized burnt red Zincite accompanied by slightly rounded, black Franklinite crystals. We sometimes see man made Zincite crystals from furnace slag, but naturally occurring Zincite crystals like this one from the co-type locality at Franklin, New Jersey are incredibly rare, despite they are not very well formed. Sadly, they are old, generally early 1900s at latest for the good ones, and so we see few turn up for sale. A really good combo from Franklin and exceeding hard to come by.
