Description

This is a magnificent specimen with numerous Scheelite crystals measuring up to 1.7 cm associated with somewhat bizarre-looking whitish-gray Quartz. The mostly perfectly bipyramidal Scheelite crystals with an adamantine luster have a yellow-brown color, sometimes with slightly darker tips. The American locality of the Camp Bird Mine in Colorado was in operation from 1900 to 1990 and produced some wonderful mineral specimens, with good Scheelite like the present specimen among them. These are probably among the most sought-after ones. However, the Scheelite crystals were usually significantly smaller and so it is a spectacular top piece in excellent condition.
