Description

This is a fine example of a relatively rare species of an American classic. A sharp-edged 1.7 cm black-gray Franklinite octahedron, not quite perfect like most of its kind, along with numerous smaller "brothers" as a well balanced piece. The Franklinite crystals here are all nicely set on a creamy, contrasting Calcite matrix. The Franklin Mine of New Jersey is the co-type locality of the species.
