Description

Azurite from Tsumeb from the mid 20th century is highly sought after, but a good, displayable matrix specimen is rare. Even in its heyday, Azurite crystals were always rare. And here we have highly lustrous, deep blue Azurite crystals up to 1.2 cm long, very contrasting on a matrix of pale apple-green Smithsonite cast. The crystals are extremely well formed and mirror bright with a deep royal blue color. This specimen was formerly in the collection of miner foreman Peter Döring and so it is most likely that it dates from the mid-20th century. A fine display piece for any collection.
