Description

You are looking at an extremely attractive but also very rare form of Pyrite from the Tsumeb Mine. Well-crystallized Tsumeb pyrites are rare anyway, and I have not yet seen any Pyrite from Tsumeb in this botryoidal form, which is reminiscent of Cornish Blister Copper. The golden color is underlined by reddish and bronze tarnishing colors. A top specimen richly covered on both sides with an attractive metallic luster. The specimen is from the collection of former mine foreman Peter Döring, who worked in the mine in the 1960s and 1970s and emigrated to Germany in the 1980s.
