Description

A beautiful vug, richly covered with colorless gemmy and partially double-terminated Calcite scalenohedrons, accompanied by impressive and colorful blood-red Chinese Cinnabar in this wonderfully contrasting matrix piece. Almost a dozen translucent, prismatic, bright crimson Cinnabar crystals, each just under a cm long, adorn this small cabinet sized specimen. The cinnabar crystals are saturated and dark red with good luster. The crystals are prismatic and stand out well from the piece due to their size, shape, and contrast, making for a very pretty specimen. From finds in the Tongren mine in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The specimen comes with a high quality lucite custom base.
