This incredible specimen is home to a whole array of raspberry red, minimally frosted but still highly lustrous Rhodochrosite scalenohedrons on a base of dark red massive Rhodochrosite. Super aesthetic and almost perfect, this top specimen is from the unique find that was made in the legendary N´Chwaning I Mine in 1978/1979. I still remember vividly when, as a 15-year-old mineral collector, I came into the shop of the then mineral dealer N. Röhr in Mittenwald, Germany and a complete display case was filled with the most beautiful Rhodochrosite specimens–now distributed all over the world. Since then, no comparable pocket has been found and such Rhodochrosite specimens are undisputed the Holy Grail for mineral collectors.
