Description

An incredibly sculptural and high-contrast specimen of the rare species Polylithionite, a representative of the Polylithionite-Trilithionite series of the Mica group: silver-gray, indistinct six-sided and wafer-thin panels up to 2.6 cm in diameter with a pearly luster. These Polylithionite clusters are associated with Schizolites, another quite rare species, a member of the Wollastonite group, as clearly flesh-pink colored, somewhat elongated tabular crystal aggregates up to 3.4 cm. While such pieces have previously been traded as Serandite, more recent XRD analyses have shown that the majority of these "Serandite" pieces are probably Schizolite. This unusual and yet typically and highly aesthetic piece from Mont Saint-Hilaire was hidden for decades in a private collection, which we are now able to offer. Definitely an absolute killer specimen from the 1980s
