Description

Dolomite is generally considered a rather boring whitish, grayish, beige mineral, mainly a matrix mineral for any other "more interesting" species. Not so the Spanish material from Cantera Azcárate (or Azcárate Quarry) at Eugui near Pamplona, which ranks among the best of the species for s resson. In the present case we see imposing WATER-CLEAR rhombohedrons measuring up to 4 cm across, partly colored light gray, as a super-aesthetic transparent cluster. The crystals are extremely sharp and have a wonderful diagonal striation on the rhombohedral faces. The vitreous luster and overall aesthetics of this 360° piece are stunning. Classic old-time material from the late 1960s. This incredible specimen was formerly housed in the collection of Dr. Joachim Jahn.
