Description

This is an extremely typical but also very rare piece from the Pfingstwiese mine, located about 3 km east-northeast of Bad Ems in the Lahn valley near Koblenz. The Pfingstwiese mine was part of the equally world-famous Mercur mine and was abandoned in 1945. Good pieces from this magnificent mine are correspondingly rare and desired. In this case, in contrast to the Merkur mine, we see somewhat slimmer, often double-terminated crystals up to a maximum of 0.9 cm in length. Their color is a typically intense, almost luminous lime green. A stunning mini, featuring numerous of excellently defined and slightly barrel-shaped crystals of Pyromorphite on minor, Quartzmatrix. The single crystals are highly lustrous, sharp edged and excellent, partly multifaced terminated. A superb specimen from the heyday of this great mine near Bad Ems.
