Description

Here we have an uncommon Cumbrian Scheelite specimen from Carrock Mine. Admittedly a rather ugly specimen, but a great example of the calcium tungstate Scheelite, as deformed-pyramidal pale amber crystal to 1,6 cm on edge on crystallized Ferberite-Wolframite matrix. Scheelite is one of the iconic minerals from the world-famous Carrock mine in Mungrisdale, Caldbeck Fells, Cumbria, England, now strictly off-limits to mineral collectors. The Scheelite fluoresces pale, ethereal bluish white under SWUV, and is non-fluorescent under long wave. Very rare material and exceedingly hard to come by.
