Here we see a real whopper with large, complex Galena crystals measuring a remarkable 3.7 cm. The Galenas are typical Neudorf style, metallically lustrous with sharp terminal faces and complex sides, sometimes in elongated crystals, here up to almost 4 cm. This superb German Galena specimen was acquired from a reputable German dealer a few years ago. In any case, it certainly comes from an old source, as this shape and style are characteristic of the most sought-after Neudorf specimens from the mid- to late 19th century. Such large, robust specimens are very difficult to find on the market today. They come only from old collections and occasionally from museum disposals. The piece is in good condition with only minor but visible bruising, which is easily to forgive, considering the size of the piece and the crystals. An eye-catching display specimen for the shelf.
