Description

This is a typical cluster of Ilvaite crystals from the (co-)type locality, the Italian Island of Elba. The black elongated crystals have a very beautiful sub-metallic luster, excellent striation along c-axis (on the prism faces) and pronounced trigonal terminations. This is truly a very beautiful and classic piece. The species is named for "Ilva", the old Latin name for the Island of Elba where co-type locality is located.
