Description

Here we see a truly classic specimen of native Sulphur from the old Sicilian sulphur mines, which until nowadays is considered among the world´s finest of this species - if not the world´s finest at all. This specimen features isolated, intense lemon yellow sharp Sulphur crystals on a creamy-white matrix of small, pointed Aragonite crystals. The Sulphur crystals are up to 1.6 cm in size and, despite their age and the softness of the fragile Sulphur crystals, almost pristine, with a few bruising here and there what not detract the superb overall aesthetic. This is a display piece of this classic material, which is rarely offered for sale today in this quality. Many newer sulfur samples were briefly available in the 1970s, as were some notorious fakes produced around the same time.
