Description

Good Scholzite crystal specimens are probably better known from the locality Reaphook Hill in Australia’s Outback. However, this superb Scholzite specimen from the probably not much less remote Skorpion Mine at Rosh Pinah near the border between Namibia and South Africa, with a typical matrix is all the more unusual. The entire display side is covered with excellently defined glassy crystals of the rare calcium zinc phosphate Scholzite. These are extremely sharp and have these typical Roman sword-shaped terminations, which are very perfectly formed on this specimen. A top specimen which was owned by a collector and friend Dr. Gerd Tremmel, for whom the rare Tsumeb species Gerdtremmelit was named.
