Description

This is a superb specimen with an excellent Carrollite cluster, composed of cuboctahedral formed crystals and set on light gray to beige matrix from the Kamoya South II Mine of Katanga in Democratic Republic of the Congo. These bright, silvery metallic mirror-like crystal faces showing fine striation and excellent terminations. This fine cluster here looks absolutely undamaged to the naked eye ,- relatively rare for the species and the locality. Carrollite is now fairly common... although it has been seldomly found, there were a few big pockets found at this amazing location, though they were decades ago. This is from the pocket of the late 1990s, and it was chosen at the time for balance, perfection, and size for a small cabinet of competitive quality, from the hundreds available at that time. The sharpness, isolated cluster aesthetics, and delicate positioning on matrix makes this a superior small cabinet sized specimen for the discerning collector, who needs a great specimen for a reasonable price, that happens to be a small cab.
