Description
White blocky Witherite crystals up to 2.1 cm in diameter from the classic Fallowfield mine near Hexham in Cumbria. Since this mine was abandoned in 1911, good material is no longer available as often. What I don´t understand is that on some platforms the classic and since centuries well known town of Hexham is no longer mentioned, but the small town of Acomb which is rather confusing. Here, as with many other "new" localities, I advise the "local site improvers" to be a little more cautious.
