Description

Here we have a classic and old-time Gypsum specimen with well formed, sharp and gemmy crystals. The are transparent as well and terminated as swallowtail twins. This fine specimen comes from the Wilhelmsglück Mine near Schwäbisch Hall in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. This is exceeding rare stuff and I think it will become a challenge, to find another good Gypsum specimen from this place. This mine was under construction from 1824 until 1900. In 1879 there was a disastrous explosion accident in which 26 miners died. This terrible tragedy was the beginning of the end of the mining activities and the mine finally closed on Feb. 1., 1900.
