Here we have a great and nearly perfect specimen from the famous Friedrich Mine near Wissen of the Siegerland. Chalcopyrites from this classic area of Germany often have great brilliance and luster. The patina is remarkable, with the striated, metallic, brassy-gold crystals having flashes of red and purple that add to the dazzle. The largest of the crystals is 1.7 cm, and the Chalcopyrite crystals are slightly deformed. The complexity of the cluster exposes numerous faces and edges, which enhances the sparkling effect. Unusual and beautiful!
