Description

Here we see an excellent combination piece of Kesterite coated with light green Mushistonite and accompanied by tabular, silvery Muscovite. This outstanding piece comes from the tungsten mines on Mount Xuebaoding, which have continued to surprise us over the years. In the late 1990s, it was thought that a new species had been found here, provisionally named "Pandaite". However, it turned out to be a coating of the light green, crusty mineral Mushistonite on sharp, textbook crystals of the rare species Kesterite, which were simply 1,000 times better than any previously known and were therefore mistakenly considered something new! Outstanding combinations of the rare Kesterite species (a Cu-Zn-Fe-Sn sulfosalt) and the coating of greenish Mushistonite (a Cu-Zn-Fe-Sn hydroxide) rarely achieve the aesthetics of this small cabinet piece, which is worthy of any collection as an aesthetic specimen. The sharp, complex Kesterites, which grow up to 0.8 cm in size, are perfectly clustered on the Muscovite matrix and richly coated with mint green Mushistonite. A top-notch piece that comes with a high-quality lucite custom base.
