Description

This is a superb and high aesthetic miniature sized specimen of native Silver from the famous Himmelsfürst Mine of Brand-Erbisdorf near Freiberg. A classic Saxon Silver, like the ones from Kongsberg is a mainstay of a sophisticated collection of worldwide minerals. They just turn up now as old collections are recycled. And here we have a great piece with numerous excellent wires with fine metallic sheen and a great patina. As beautiful addition there are plenty silvery microcrystals of native Silver, scattered over the base of the wires. Compared with the other specimen, here the wires are all in all a bit more stout but they are showing the thick and curling, ropelike wires at the base as well, and they are ON MATRIX. Similar to the other piece, there is some debate about whether specimens are "old" or from re-mining of the old district during the Soviet era in the 1950s and early 1960s, and so without an old label nobody can say with certainty that this is old or relatively new. In any case, it is a great mini with high aesthetics,- and comes with a high quality acrylic base.
