Description

Here we have an excellent specimen of SUPERRARE species Paracelsian from Welsh locality Benallt Mine. The Benallt Mine on the Lleyn Peninsula in Gwynedd, is an amazing locality but one not that well known, especially to collectors unfamiliar with the British Isles. The mine only operated for eight years between 1886 and 1894. And this is a great piece with well formed, chissel-shaped crystals richly lining two vugs on both sides of the specimen. They are sharp edged of course and mostly excellent terminated. Paracelsian, a rare barium aluminium silicate, can form magnificent specimens at Benallt and this small cabinet display piece is a splendid example with crystals up to over 1 cm. Definitely a stunning example of this rare species from Benallt.
