Description

This is a superb miniature sized specimen with superbly defined, hexagonal crystals of alkali rich Beryl perched on matrix. This dramatic piece from Deo Darrah in Afghanistan features a bunch of six-sided sharp and lustrous crystals of rare alkali rich Beryl scattered over the matrix. These crystals are resemling a sandwich texture due to the colour zoning from very light blue on both terminations and a deeper blue core. The pocket of these were found in approximately 2012, was small and tight. Few matrix specimens were recovered. This one piece, probably represents ten percent of the entire pocket. A significant specimen from this rare find. These were originally thought to be Rosterite or Vorobyevite, but further analysis by Dr. Federico Pezzotta confirmed they are alkali-rich beryls.
