Description

This fine specimen consists of numerous crystals with the relatively uncommon tetrakishexahedral form. For this form and the hexakisoctahedrons as well the mine was famous in the 1800s and 1900s. I vividly remember the time, when I was a teenager in the late 1970s, I visited almost weekly the nearby old dumps of the mine with my moped. And with some luck, it was quite possible to find such good items. Nowadays the dumps are dug several times, collecting is striktly prohibited and collectors are "not welcome" there. But this specimen is a real good sample from this locale, with well formed and multifaced crystals. They are sharp edged and gemmy with a typically, slight violet colour. A superb specimen with only minor bruising from the great old times.
