Description

Some of the most well-known specimens of the rare nickel antimonide Breithauptite are those from St. Andreasberg in Harz Mountains, Germany. This species is easily recognizable for its interesting violet iridescent metallic hue. This fine small miniature sized specimen features beautiful Breithauptite masses richly embedded in typically Calcite matrix. This is definitely a cool and old-time specimen from this classic locality. Considering that mining stopped in St. Andreasberg in 1910, the piece most likely dates back to the 1800s.
