Description

A super interesting specimen with several intergrown Halite crystals as a beautiful "skyscraper" from the well known German locale Bleicherode of Harz Mountains in Thuringia. The single Halite crystals are well formed with cuboid basic shape, they are sharp edged, gemmy and highly lustrous. Definitely an aesthetic specimen in splendend condition. This locale is a Potash Mine, started in 1899, closed in 1990 and reopened in 1998 as a undergrond waste storage and, again, as a potash mine but with solution mining and no underground workings. Between 1954 and 1990 known as Karl Liebknecht Potash Works. Recently there have been found excellent Gypsum crystals in association with halite cubes in the "Kraja" district of the mine.
