Description

A rather unusual, rare, and characteristic specimen of silver-copper sulfide Stromeyerite from the Alexander Shaft of Vrančice near Příbram in the Czech Republic. The Stromeyerite features lustrous, steel-gray metallic, intergrown needle-shaped crystals up to 1.2 cm, composed of a mixture of Stromeyerite and other unidentified sulfosalt species. As special feature, visible even to the unaided eye, is that the Stromeyerites is nicely perched on a tombac-brown, metallic-lustrous, crystallized Goethite carpet. This is a highly interesting specimen of a rare silver sulfosalt from a long-gone era.
