Description

Over the years the pegmatites of Madagascar have produced some excellent Tourmaline specimens and this 6 cm tall Rubellite is no exception: A vivid crimson red color, well developed, triangular terminal face and excellent striation on the prism faces parallel to the c-axis. The crystal is also wonderfully gemmy translucent (lights up like a lantern when backlit!), and has a high vitreous luster. According to my sources, "the pegmatites that provide these specimens are mined out" and therefore it is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain such exceptional material. What are you waiting for?
