Description

From a well-known mine in Zambia that seems to have produced little in the way of specimens except for world class Libethenite, this is an attractive, quality specimen of Libethenite clusters lining a wide opened vug on the matrix. The Libethenites have a deep, iridescent green colour and very good luster. The larger, 0,9 cm cluster has a fan-like habit not unlike many of the Adamites you see, particularly the famous Cuprian variety. The smaller clusters have more of a roseate habit. Specimens of this quality came out in the 1970s, and this mine closed in the 1980s. Considered to be some of the finest examples of this uncommon copper phosphate species for the unusually robust and large crystals produced here, this is a balanced and aesthetic small cabinet specimen. Only one imperfection on one cluster.
