Description

Here we have a beautiful and classic "Aussie" with sharp, blocky pseudomorphs of Cerussite after Anglesite, coated with jet-black Goethite. This material is famous from the Block 14 opencut at Broken Hill Proprietary Mine, New South Wales, Australia and this is a splendid example. The smooth uniform layer of Goethite varies in luster from bright with a silky sheen to an almost matt finish, dependent on the texture of the underlying Cerussite. The specimen is composed of Cerussite pseudomorphing former Anglesite crystals from 0,2 to 2,1 cm. The major crystal is doubly terminated as well and the overall aesthetics and balance are great.
