Description

Large, elegant, but anyway relatively stout blades of deep blue Azurite make this wonderful cluster from the now-closed Tsumeb mine in Namibia. This particular pocket, one of the few named in Tsumeb, has become world-famous for its unusually lustrous, tabular, wonderful crystals. This excellent, not entirely perfect specimen consists of multifaceted, deep midnight blue loosely intergrown crystals up to 3.4 cm in diameter. Ideally, this piece would be displayed beautifully in a vertical orientation to highlight the large blue crystals that came from the famous Easter Pocket, found on Level 8 in 1994. The larger crystals showing some local micro-abrasions, and any imperfections in the smaller crystals are not obvious, lost in the dark blue color of the piece. A stunning Azurite from one of the last large pockets mined in Tsumeb before defunct and with a high aesthetic impact.
