Description

Here we see a large well formed and nicely terminated single Painite crystal from Namyazeik at Hpakant Township of Mohnyin District. Painite is a very rareVERY RARE calcium, zirconium, and aluminum borate found only in several localities in Burma. Although this euhedral crystal is not from the type locality, it is of excellent quality and, in particular, of impressive size. It is highly lustrous and striated, reddish-brown, and translucent at the edges. Very little of this very rare material has been found recently.
