Description
Cryolite is a rare sodium-aluminium-fluoride and this fine combination piece comes from the type locality, the abandoned deposit of Ivigtut at Greenland. It features white Cryolite, brown Siderite and steel gray metallic Galena. This famous locality is not only now long gone, its underwater. It was mined below sea level, to get Cryolite as an important flux agent for the refining of alumninum.
