Description

Since the closing of the commerical mining of the Red Cloud Mine in the mid 1980s, it has been operated with varying success as specimen mine by a series of leaseholders. And predictably, Red Cloud Wulfenite has gotten increasingly expensive and good specimens are hard to find. While this specimen is by no means a world-class example worthy of a museum display, it does feature a nice ca. 1-cm crystal along with innumerable smaller ones on matrix. The crystals are surprisingly undamaged with a fine orange-red color and a vitreous luster. What’s not to like about this specimen?
