Description
The claim to fame of the Calamita Mine is that it is the only underground mine on the Island of Elba in Italy´s Tuscany region, with the Vallone Stope as the biggest stope of the mine, which now seems to be a part of a museum dedicated to Elba´s mining heritage. That makes this Epidote on matrix a historic specimen. You can only get it from old collections and no longer collect yourself. Make sure to get your shot at this jumble of pale green Epidote needles and black weathered garnet(?) veins on aplitic matrix. A pretty piece!
